Work with me

I am always open to taking on new students and postdoctoral fellows. The School of Mathematics offers fully-funded PhD positions to qualified applicants. Read more about our PhD program in Optimization and Operational Research. Sounds good?  Apply at least one month prior to entry.
Albert's graduation in Edinburgh
Candidates  interested in working with me should have previous studies with high marks in a field such as Mathematics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, or Computer Science. Basic knowledge of optimization methods is required. Any previous research experience (journal publications and/or conference presentations) is a plus, as are significant national/international awards.

If you believe you are qualified, send me an email with your CV/resume, a detailed list of publications, and a few names of references who can comment on your research accomplishments and communication skills.
If you are a researcher from Germany and completed your doctorate in the last four years, you can apply for a Feodor Lynen Research Fellowship to work with me, as I am a Humboldtian. In your message specify that you wish to apply for this fellowship.

My former students have gone on to positions in academia and in industry. Academic employers include the University of Tennessee, Western Ontario University, UQAM, Norwegian School of Economics, Dalhousie University, and Carleton University. Industry employers include Amazon, CAISO, Canadian Tire, Deltares, ExPretio, Shopify, SocïVolta, and consultancies such as Concentra, Deloitte, ESMIA, IMS, and One-Eighty Corp.
